Auburn Spartans Pop Warner Cheer and Dance

The “Auburn Indians” cheerleading program was introduced in 1963 under the direction of Frances “Sis” Nangle. Coach Nangle was ahead of her time. When many thought that only boys could be involved in athletics, she decided there was a place in the sports world for girls, too.

Now known as the Auburn Spartans, our cheerleading program is a part of the national Pop Warner Spirit program, providing kids an opportunity to perform in an organized, supervised, safety-oriented environment. The competitive program in Auburn is open to all youth, ages 3-13.

The Auburn Spartans cheerleading program is the proud home of the 1997 national champion dance team. The program also holds state and local titles in cheerleading, with the most recent CNY Championship wins in 2024 including: 1st place Tiny Mite large level 1, 1st place Mitey Mite large level 1 and 1st place JV large level 1.

2025 Cheer Season Team Placement

2025 Cheer Season Team Placement Info

Non-Competitive- Junior Tiny Mite:

-Ages 3-4 (DOB: 8/1/20 - 7/31/22)

-Season runs July 28th to October 19th

-Practice up to 2 hour per week

-No required games, non-competitive

-Showcase at CNY Competition Oct 11th (Syracuse) and Empire Classic Oct 19th (Utica)

-A fun learning experience for the introduction to cheer!

$100 registration fee ($75 in April and May)

Competitive- Tiny Mite, Mitey Mite, Jr Pee Wee, Jr Varsity:

-Ages 5-6, 7-8, 9-10 and 11-13 respectively (DOB: 8/1/11 - 7/31/20)

-Season runs July 28th to March ? (*holiday break*)

-Practice up to 10 hours/week until Labor Day, up to 6 hours/week after Labor Day

-Games begin Labor Day weekend for 8 weeks, home and away games

*Will cheer in post-season games if football team advances (excluding Tiny Mite)

$175 registration fee ($150 in April and May).

Competition Dates:

Spartan Showcase in Auburn: week of 10/6-10/10 (all teams)

CNY in Syracuse: 10/11 (all teams)

Empire Classic in Utica: 10/19 (all teams)

Eastern Region in Trenton, NJ: 10/25, 10/26 or 11/2 (for teams advancing from CNY)

Nationals in Charlotte, NC: 12/8-12/11 (teams TBD and if advance from Eastern Region)

Winter out of state competition: TM, MM, JPW, JV (date/location TBD)

1-2 local winter competitions: TM, MM, JPW, JV (location Syracuse or Rochester in Feb/March).

* There will be fundraising throughout the season to help offset costs.

What does general fundraising go towards?

Competition fees, travel fees, uniforms, game day shirts and bows, equipment, gym rental fees, team/program bonding events, warm up jackets, banquets, etc.!
